Dr. Helder Nakaya is an expert in computational systems biology, an emerging field that combines machine learning algorithms and omics data to understand and predict the behavior of human diseases. Dr. Nakaya was a professor at the University of São Paulo and deputy director of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences until 2021, when he became a senior researcher at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo. He is also an Associate Professor of the Department of Pathology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Nakaya is also an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Principal Investigator at the Center for Research in Inflammatory Diseases and at the Scientific Platform Pasteur-USP, Consultant at CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) and IUIS (International Union of Immunological Societies), as well as Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Ebola Vaccine Consortium and the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).
