Jorge Almeida Guimarães, presently is the President of EMBRAPII, The Brazilian Agency for Industrial Research and Innovation. Guimarães holds a Ph.D. degree at UNIFESP and a post-doctoral at the National Institute of Health (NIH) – USA. Full Professor at the Federal Universities of Rio de Janeiro, Federal Fluminense, and Rio Grande do Sul. He was Chief Executive Officer-CEO in the Science and Technology of Brazilian Government Agencies: CNPq, Brazil-Argentina Center of Biotechnology and CAPES. He is recipient of several prizes and awards an example of Brazilian National Great Cross of the Order of Scientific Merit. Dr. Guimarães is also member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
